The Sweet, Simple Things

For the month of February, on Mondays I want post some quotes along the lines of simplifying life around us! This past month, I've been challenged to take all that I have and condense - not because I have to, but because, perhaps, condensing brings into focus the real and important things! I hope that these following quotes and ideas will motivate you to simplify your life to what really counts!

“I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”
~ Laura Ingalls Wilder

How many people will get to the end of their life and wish that they had more things? How much money would you want in your bank account as your casket is slowly lowered into the ground? How big of a house do you want to leave behind? How many pairs of shoes do you want to leave in a dusty closet?

How much will your possessions be worth to you when you're laying in that hospital bed, knowing that you're probably never going back to your home?

I don't think the things in our lives will even come close to comparing to the quality time that we spend with those that we love. It's the birth of your child, the smell of Grandma's cookies in the oven, the taste of home-grown tomatoes on a hot summer evening, the laughter of children as they play hide and seek, a mother's comforting embrace when no one else seems to understand - it's the simple things in life that are the real treasures.

Make today a day about living for the real things in life!

What are some of your best simple memories?
